Enterprise Europe Network sustainability services leading to EENergy grant for energy efficiency improvements

Renārs Ronis, Member of Board of Picu Darbnica Ltd.:

This is first ever project we have participated in and the first experience is very positive. Thanks to the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and Latvian Technological Centre (LTC) for the support provided in the preparation of EENergy project application!

With the geopolitical situation and raising energy prices more and more companies are looking for alternative energy sources as well as the optimization of the existent models. When LTC client Picu Darbnica Ltd. obtained new premises for the 11th pizzeria in their pizzeria-chain, they found out that even working with 250 C ovens does not guarantee warm enough conditions for the employees during winter. Even worse – bad insulation can cause hot and airlessness conditions during summer which results in more energy spendings on conditioning. The company needed sustainability advice to reduce energy consumption and climate impacts.

When they turned to EEN partner Latvian Technological Center, they received both sustainability and innovation management services. As LTC is partner in EENergy project the company was informed on upcoming call and invited to participate. The changes in the company premises were inevitable and very much needed so Renars Ronis did not even think twice. With zero experience in project applications and careful support by LTC sustainability advisors the company successfully submitted application and was lucky enough to be selected in randomization for financing their project. With an average of 10% energy savings per month the company is approaching EENergy reporting and expecting 10 000 euros invested to be returned.
