Max Rent from Poland going 100% renewable with EENergy

The company Max Rent owned by Beata Kowalska employs 9 people and operates in HORECA industry. Since its inception, it has focused on environmental responsibility and the systematic implementation of solutions that reduce its impact on the climate and ecosystem. The company was looking for technologies that could decrease its energy consumption and was also interested in introducing renewable energy sources, as well as reducing its carbon footprint and overall costs of operation.

Max Rent operates across the HORECA and events industry, providing equipment and solutions for a wide range of venues and occasions. Discover more about their activities and sustainability journey on their website: maxrent.pl

“All activities to date began with a ‘snowball’, i.e. the EENergy programme, which significantly reduced energy demand, and then it went further. We have reduced greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption and waste generation. However, we are not stopping there. In near future, we plan to install energy storage facilities to increase self-consumption from PV installations and implement a heat recovery system in office spaces. Thanks to the EENergy grant and our advisor, we see a bright future ahead” – Beata Kowalska, CEO of Max Rent.

To achieve aforementioned goals, the company applied to the EENergy programme to receive 10.000 EUR grant and was guided through the EENergy Energy Efficiency Tool by Enterprise Europe Network advisor, to determine its needs.

In result with assistance of EENergy company installed PV systems that achieved capacity of 90 kWp and generate approximately 90,000 kWh of clean energy per year, reducing CO₂ emissions by over 63 tonnes. In addition, the energy purchased from the grid comes from 100% renewable sources.  Thanks to EENergy the company has also embarked on a path towards a sustainable future.

While the Max Rent’s transition initiated by EENergy started with producing energy for its own needs, inspired by results achieved thanks to the grant, the company is also implementing innovative heat recovery systems, e.g. from cold stores. In addition, a modern ventilation unit, integrated with washing and laundry processes, heats the warehouse with waste heat, significantly increasing the energy efficiency of the facility.

The company’s own laundry, powered by solar energy, allows it to reduce emissions associated with transport and external laundry services. The use of washing machines and dryers equipped with heat recovery systems and automatic detergent dispensers ensures precise management of media consumption. A+++ class washing machines minimise energy and water consumption. Process water is filtered (reverse osmosis) and then used for rinsing in the laundry. In the spirit of the circular economy, resources are reused – both water and secondary raw materials.

Any waste is carefully sorted and sent for recycling or disposal in accordance with the waste hierarchy. The use of disposable packaging has also been reduced to an absolute minimum.

This way participation in the EENergy programme has encouraged the company to continue its transition towards sustainability and helped become 100% renewable!

“The company applied for the #EENergy program and successfully secured a grant. This financial boost allowed to expand its investments in sustainable development. We offered them further support services and remain in constant contact – the company regularly participates in competitions, which we inform them about and is implementing further improvements. Furthermore, it has also benefited from the digital transformation programme [DIGITRANS programme offered by the Polish Investment Fund] which was successfully completed” – explains Agnieszka Ozimkowska, sustainability advisor at Enterprise Europe Network Łukasiewicz-WIT in Poland.
