Through EU-funded support within the EENergy project, Curia Fastigheter (real-estate) has implemented energy-efficient measures in its properties and significantly reduced its energy use for heating. The company is one of the Swedish small and medium-sized enterprises that has been granted support to reduce its energy consumption.

With the help of the EU grant, Curia Fastigheter has installed energy glass in its properties. The measure has led to a reduction in heating costs by up to 20 percent – a significant result, especially in older residential buildings where heat losses are often substantial.

Energy Efficiency with Concrete Results

In older buildings, windows and doors account for a significant portion of heat loss. It is estimated that about 35 percent of the heat energy in a building can be lost through these surfaces. To address the problem, Curia Fastigheter chose to install an additional layer of energy glass on top of the existing windows.

• Previously, heating accounted for about 87 percent of the building’s total energy use. Through the installation of energy glass, we have been able to significantly reduce the energy demand for heating, says Karolina Hedberg.

The measure was completed in September 2024 and contributes both to lower energy costs and reduced climate impact.
